Most of you DIRECT TV Satellite TV super fans out there get all your international sports channels and might have something to say about what I consider to be the greatest soccer match of all time. You are all certainly entitled to your opinion as I am, as well, but surely neither of us can deny the importance and significance of that legendary bout between Italy and West Germany in 1970.

This World Cup Semi-final went down in the Azteca Stadium of Mexico City on June 17, 1970. The end result was Italy’s undisputed victory over the West Germany team, but no one remembers the score. What everyone remembers is the brilliant shows of sportsmanship and skill on the field as two teams, historical rivals, bitterly battled and raged across the field for supremacy. Sure, the first hour and a half of the game seemed pretty ordinary, but what few fail to take into account is the half hour of extra time that went into the game and carried it on into a nail biting tie breaker situation. In the end, however, Italy scored the winning goal with only nine minutes left on the clock solidifying their victory and the game’s place in history.

Bob Bradley was finally sacked as coach of the USA soccer team. It was a decision that had been coming for a long time, because he was struggling to motivate his team and they were not making the progress people wanted.
